BMW has added another innovation to its automotive sector. The 2024 model BMW 1 Series, which will be produced in Leipzig, Germany, comes with significant updates in both design and technology. Although not described as a completely new model, it draws attention with improvements made on the existing model.

Refreshed Exterior Design and Dimensions

The new 1 Series’ exterior design has taken on a simpler and more sporty line. The shrinking of the front grilles and the cross lines inside them slightly deviate from BMW’s traditional design philosophy. The vehicle has grown by 42 millimeters compared to its previous model, with a wheelbase of 2,670 millimeters and a width of 1,800 millimeters. The height has increased by 25 millimeters, reaching 1,459 millimeters.

Enhanced Engine Options and Performance

In terms of engine options, the new 1 Series is offered in four different versions: 118d, 120d, 120, and the most powerful model, M135 xDrive. Each model comes standard with a 7-speed Streponic transmission. The 120 model is equipped with a three-cylinder gasoline engine and 48-volt mild hybrid technology. Diesel options use four-cylinder engines supported by mild hybrid technology. Particularly, the M135 xDrive, with its 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, offers 296 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 in 4.9 seconds.

Interior Design and Technological Features

There are also innovations in interior design. The interior design, reminiscent of a modern BMW model, features a 10.7-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch digital dashboard. The center console buttons have been reduced for a simpler appearance, and the seats are covered with recycled polyester.

Release Date and Price Information

The new BMW 1 Series will be launched in the European market in October of this year. The starting price in the UK is set at 29,950 pounds. With these innovations, the new model strengthens BMW’s claim in the compact car segment.
