Gmail is taking a significant step to enhance email security. The blue check feature, to be integrated into Android and iOS apps, will allow users to better verify the identity of email senders. This feature was previously available on the web version and had received positive feedback. Now, it is preparing to meet users on mobile platforms as well.

Increased Email Security with Blue Check

The blue check system is based on the Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) standard. BIMI allows users to more easily recognize the sender by displaying the brand’s logos in the email inbox. For example, logos of big brands like Apple will appear next to the emails, providing users with great confidence in verifying the sender’s identity. Google emphasizes that this system requires strong identity verification. This will ensure the secure display of logos and prevent malicious uses.

The blue check feature will be located between the sender’s name and the sending date. When users click on this check, they will encounter an alert message containing detailed information about the sender’s identity. This new feature will be added to personal Google and Workspace accounts in the coming weeks.

A New Era in Email Security: Blue Check

Additionally, Gmail is also offering a new type of BIMI certificate. This allows brands that do not require a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) to use their logos in email shipments as well. This step by Gmail aims to make the email experience more reliable and transparent, thereby gaining users’ trust.
