Apple’s latest flagship models, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, continue to make headlines due to various technical issues from the moment they were launched. Users are experiencing grievances due to freezing and spontaneous restarting problems in these new models. Numerous complaint threads have been opened on Reddit and Apple’s own support forums about these issues.

Users report that their devices suddenly freeze and then restart on their own without any intervention. The freezing and restarting problems, which started with the iPhone 16 series launched in September, have not been resolved with the subsequent iOS 18.0.1 and iOS 18.1 updates. Despite the updates, users report that the issues persist and negatively affect their daily use of the devices.

Self-Restarting and Freezing Issues in iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max Models

The problem is observed to occur at random times and under various conditions. Some users report that their phones stop responding or the touchscreen responds slowly to commands, followed by the device restarting. Moreover, in some cases, iPhones are rebooted even while in standby mode.

The majority of these issues occurring specifically in the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models strengthen the possibility that the problem may be specific to these models. Users requesting new devices from Apple report that the same issues recur even in replaced phones. Interestingly, some users state that they do not encounter these problems after restoring their devices to factory settings and setting up their devices again without using iCloud backups. This situation leads to speculation that the problem might be related to iCloud backups, although Apple has not yet made an official statement on this matter.
