Microsoft has launched a new Windows application for all major platforms. This innovation facilitates users’ access to services such as Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Remote Desktop through macOS, iOS, iPadOS, Android, and Windows PCs. The app was made available after about a year of testing phases and features customizable home screens, multi-monitor support, and seamless integration with local devices.

The application allows users to efficiently and directly use local hardware such as web cameras, storage units, and printers with cloud computers. This provides a significant advantage especially in hybrid work models and remote education.

Only Available for Work and School Accounts

However, Microsoft is currently limiting this application to work and school accounts. The application is designed for users who aim to transition from existing Remote Desktop clients. Microsoft has not commented on whether it will support individual consumer accounts, which aligns with its goals of completely digitizing experiences and developing artificial intelligence-supported services.

Users can download this versatile application from Microsoft Store or Apple App Store. The Android version is available in a public preview mode, which indicates it is open to user feedback. This step by Microsoft in cloud computing aims to extend the Windows ecosystem to a broader audience.
