A group of scientists at Beihang University in China has signed off on a groundbreaking technology in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles. Led by Mingjing Qi, the team developed a drone prototype that never consumes energy by maximizing the benefits from solar energy. This drone is capable of continuous flight through the use of small solar panels and a simple circuit with voltage boosting capabilities.

Tiny Drone’s Huge Potential: Weighs Only 4 Grams

The prototype weighs only 4 grams and is the size of a hummingbird. Despite its small size, the drone’s technology holds the potential to be adapted to both large and small unmanned aerial vehicles. More extensive testing and development of this technology are expected in the coming periods.

Unmanned aerial vehicles, now critical for many countries, have become indispensable, especially in military and reconnaissance fields. These vehicles, which also draw significant interest in countries like Turkiye, play an important role in conflicts such as the war between Russia and Ukraine, especially kamikaze drones, which have the capacity to alter the course of the war.

This new development will further enhance the potential in unmanned aerial vehicle technology, making work in this field even more interesting. Scientists aim to further develop this technology for use in long-duration missions, thus enabling effective use of these drones in areas with energy needs, especially regions with abundant sunlight.
