South Korea’s tech giant Samsung introduced its new wearable technology product, the Galaxy Ring, at the recent Galaxy Unpacked event. Initial announcements claimed this innovative smart ring would only be compatible with Samsung Galaxy series phones; however, subsequent tests and reviews have revealed this information to be not entirely accurate. M. Brandon Lee, creator of the ‘This is Tech Today’ channel, proved in a video that the Galaxy Ring also functions on Android phones other than Samsung. According to Lee, all users need to do is download the Galaxy Wearable app and complete the pairing process.
Samsung Galaxy Ring Lacks Some Features on Other Devices
However, when used on non-Samsung devices, not all features of the Galaxy Ring will be available. For example, certain features like Galaxy AI and Energy Score will only be usable on Samsung phones. This situation shows that the ring has some limitations in terms of functionality, but most of its basic functionalities work smoothly on other Android phones as well.
This new development highlights Samsung’s strategy in the wearable technology market and the flexibility of the Android ecosystem once again. It can be considered an important step to expand the Galaxy Ring user experience and reach more Android users.

There are some reviews out there claiming that the Samsung Galaxy Ring only works on a Samsung device, therefore it doesn’t work on other Android devices.
