Samsung continues to push the boundaries in technology and innovation. Recently introduced at the Galaxy Unpacked event, the Galaxy Z Flip6 has now started to be uniquely used by police forces. Two police departments in the state of Missouri have decided to use this foldable phone as a body camera. This application marks the first time a foldable phone has been used in this way and is considered a pilot program.

In the USA, camera usage is widespread to increase the safety of police and civilians. However, the use of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 stands out as an innovation in this field. The phone is placed in a folded state on the chest of the officers, and its compact design makes this a very practical usage.

Samsung and Visual Labs’ Special Z Flip6 Collaboration for Police Use

Samsung and a company called Visual Labs have collaborated to adapt the Z Flip6 for police use. The phone’s volume down button has been customized to start video recording in emergencies. Additionally, features like automatically switching to video recording during pursuits or when sirens are activated have been added. All recorded data can be quickly uploaded to the cloud via Visual Labs’ software.

Police can take photos of crime scenes with the Z Flip6, record audio and video during interrogations, and track locations via GPS. These features could make police daily operations more efficient.

Features Developed for the Police Use of the Galaxy Z Flip6

Galaxy Z Flip6 is equipped with a 50 MP main camera and a 12 MP ultra-wide camera. This means high-quality image and video recording for police departments. Samsung‘s strategy highlights the practicality and versatility of the device. The company hopes that if this application is widely accepted, it will be used by more police departments. Over time, it will be observed whether such innovative uses become widespread among law enforcement agencies.
