Developed by Meta as a rival to the X social media platform, the microblogging platform Threads continues to draw attention by increasing its user count. Reaching 175 million users in early July, Threads aims to increase its popularity by adding new features. However, due to a decision by the Competition Authority, Threads has been inaccessible in Turkey since April 29, and it remains uncertain when it will become active again.
Disappearing Posts: Threads’ New Feature
Amid these uncertainties, the Threads platform continues to test a new feature that will capture the interest of its users. Approved by Meta, this new feature will allow users to create posts that automatically disappear after 24 hours. This feature will work similarly to Instagram stories, and responses that come with the posts will also disappear after 24 hours.
Details of the feature were shared on social media by technology expert Alessandro Paluzzi. According to Paluzzi’s post, a timer added to the posts shows users when the post will disappear. This new feature is currently being tested on a limited number of users and the date for its widespread availability remains uncertain.
Users of Threads in Turkey are experiencing disappointment as they won’t be able to try this new feature. When the platform will be accessible again in Turkey is still an unanswered question. However, the innovations brought by Threads and the increase in user numbers highlight the platform’s potential.
