At an event held today at VakıfBank Headquarters, senior executives including the Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek and Alpaslan Çakar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Banks Association of Turkey (TBB), announced a new project called‘TAM‘ (Turkey’s ATM Center). This project unites the ATMs of public banks in Turkey into a single network. Currently, 5,600 TAM ATMs are in service, and this number is planned to increase to 19,000 soon.
No Fees and Commissions!
Within the scope of the TAM project, ATMs of Ziraat Bank, VakıfBank, Halkbank and other participating banks will account for 36 percent of the total ATMs in Turkey. Transactions made through these ATMs will cover 40 percent of ATM transactions across the country. One of the biggest advantages is that TAM ATMs will not charge any fees or commissions. This will allow citizens to carry out their transactions without paying additional fees and reduce the costs of banks. Alpaslan Çakar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the BAT, stated that the project will expand further in the future and other banks may also be included in this system.
