Apple has two important display technologies to protect users’ eye health: True Tone and Night Shift.

What is True Tone?

True Tone automatically adjusts the screen’s color temperature and intensity based on ambient light conditions. This feature makes the colors on the display look more natural and reduces eye strain. You can activate True Tone by long pressing the brightness settings in Control Center or from the Display & Brightness option in Settings on your iOS device.

What is Night Shift?

Night Shift filters out blue light in the evening, shifting the screen’s color temperature to warmer tones. This feature not only protects eye health but can also improve sleep quality. Night Shift can be easily set from the brightness settings in Control Center or from Settings. You can also schedule this feature for specific hours if you wish.

Which One Should We Use?

Although both features are effective on their own, they can be used together for maximum comfort and health while using your Apple devices. True Tone provides a more natural appearance throughout the day, while Night Shift protects your eyes, especially during nighttime use. Users can choose and activate these features based on their needs. Apple’s smart display technologies significantly reduce eye fatigue during prolonged use, making your interaction with technology healthier.
