Particularly, blood types play a significant role in the preferences of mosquitoes. Research shows that individuals with blood type O are bitten twice as much as those with type A. Additionally, high levels of chemicals like lactic acid found on a person’s skin can make them more attractive to mosquitoes.

The Attractive Effect of Deodorants and Perfumes on Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes also detect their prey by sensing chemical signals through the levels of skin bacteria. Therefore, the use of deodorants, perfumes, and soaps can also attract mosquitoes’ attention. Physical activities, especially during exercise, increase the rate of breathing which leads to more carbon dioxide emission, attracting mosquitoes. Similarly, high body temperature or chemicals released during sweating also attract mosquitoes.

In light of this information, to protect against mosquito bites, avoiding strong scents such as perfumes, consuming foods low in lactic acid, and taking a quick shower after physical activities can be beneficial. Additionally, natural mosquito repellents and appropriate clothing are also effective protection methods.
