Technology giant Apple is preparing to enter the foldable device market. By 2026, it plans to offer its users two different foldable devices. The first device will be an ‘oyster’ model phone similar to Samsung’s Z Flip series. This phone will be compact when closed and will reach current standard iPhone sizes when opened. The second device will offer a larger screen and will be designed as a 20.3-inch iPad/Mac hybrid. This new format could be an ideal option especially for professional users.

Foldable Screen Agreement Between Apple and Samsung

Apple Could Launch Two Foldable Devices in 2026

Especially Apple’s agreement with Samsung on foldable screens and obtaining various foldable device patents strengthens the possibility of launching these new products. Jeff Pu, an Apple analyst from Haitong Securities, predicts that Apple will introduce the foldable iPad/Mac hybrid in the second quarter of 2026, and the foldable iPhone model towards the end of the year.

These developments coincide with previous news that Apple had been working on two different iPhone prototypes. Previously reported to be working on models similar to the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip series, Apple appears to be focusing its strategy on these new foldable models. Foldable devices could further blur the boundaries between mobile devices and tablets and fundamentally change the user experience.
