Turkey has recently been struggling with fraud incidents using the name of cargo companies. MNG Kargo, in particular, has taken steps to prevent such crimes and proved that it is on the neck of fraudsters. According to the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, 34 fraudsters were identified as suspects and 202 people were victimized, but the number could be higher. It is estimated that tens of thousands of people have been victimized by the lie of unpaid shipping fees.
Judicial Process and Acceptance of Indictment
Istanbul 18. The High Criminal Court accepted the indictment on the fraud and the suspects face up to 1945 years in prison. It was stated in the complaint petition prepared by MNG Kargo that the fraudsters tried to collect fake cargo fees ranging from 90 to 200 TL with interest. It was also stated that some lawyers were also involved in this fraud scheme and that they are also under investigation.
The suspects will be tried on various charges:‘establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime‘,‘qualified fraud‘,‘unauthorized use or acquisition of personal data‘,‘attempted qualified fraud‘ and‘laundering the proceeds of crime‘.
