Micron Technology announced today the introduction of the new generation graphics memory GDDR7. This new memory features an architecture offering 32Gbps high performance based on 1-beta DRAM technology. Compared to previous generations, GDDR7 supports system bandwidth of 1.5TB/s, providing a significant improvement especially for high-resolution gaming and graphics-intensive applications.

Features of GDDR7 Memory

Micron Technology Introduces New Graphics Memory GDDR7

The GDDR7 memory has four independent channels. These channels manage the workload more efficiently, reducing response time and providing a smoother gaming experience. The new memory also offers 50% more energy efficiency compared to previous models and consumes 70% less energy in sleep mode. With improvements in reliability, compliance, and usability, GDDR7 promises a superior experience to users.

Performance Increases and Technological Advances

Micron Technology Introduces New Graphics Memory GDDR7

In terms of performance, the new Micron GDDR7 memory offers 33% higher performance compared to previous generations of memory. It also reduces response times in artificial intelligence applications by up to 20%. This is a significant development to meet the rapidly growing demands of artificial intelligence technologies and applications. According to Micron’s estimates, graphics cards equipped with GDDR7 will show more than 30% improvement in ray tracing and rasterization performance at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K resolutions compared to current GDDR6 and GDDR6X memories. Micron is reinforcing its leadership in the technology market with this new memory alongside a broad product portfolio including DDR, LPDDR, and GDDR memory options, as well as CPU, NPU, and GPU.
