OpenAI announced that it has launched a new search engine integrated into ChatGPT. With this feature, users will be able to easily access real-time information. Initially activated only for paid subscribers, this feature will be available to free users in the coming weeks.
End of Limited Information Era with New Search Engine
The new search engine of ChatGPT allows users to manually search the internet, with search results integrated and presented in ChatGPT’s existing interface. This development strengthens OpenAI’s competition with rivals like Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini. These competitors have been providing internet access in AI-supported chats to their users for some time.
The new search engine will be available on iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows platforms. OpenAI stated that it combined various search technologies to create this new search engine and that the core search model is a customized version of GPT-4o. This update is said to eliminate the issue of users having access to limited information between 2021 and 2023.
OpenAI emphasized that it will continue to update training data to ensure users can access the most up-to-date information, even if the live search feature is open.
