Microsoft originally planned to integrate the Recall feature, which records operations performed on users’ computers, into Windows 11 Copilot+. However, due to privacy concerns from users, this feature received significant criticism. In response to user reactions, Microsoft decided to turn off the Recall feature by default and transitioned to a structure where users could optionally activate or deactivate this feature. Additionally, this feature was moved to the Windows Insider Program and removed from the initial releases of Copilot+.

Recall Feature Postponed Once Again

Microsoft to Offer Recall Feature to Windows Insiders in October

Following these changes, Microsoft announced today that the Recall feature will be offered to Windows Insiders users in October. The company stated, ‘In line with our commitment to provide a reliable and secure Recall experience, we plan to offer it to Windows Insiders users in October.’ This step will allow the feature to be tested by a broader user base and gather feedback.

Microsoft indicated that some codes of the Recall feature are present in the Windows 11 Canary Channel and that this situation is an indicator of ongoing work. In October, we will be able to see more clearly how this feature operates. During this process, Microsoft continues to work on making the Recall feature more user-friendly and reliable.
