MSG Sphere Construction: 1,500-Person Team and Giant Steel Beams
A 1,500-person construction team prepared the site by excavating 84,000 cubic meters of soil. The construction process, which began in 2018, gained momentum with the completion of the foundation and basement. In 2020, the placement of two 240-ton steel beams and a 170-ton compression ring marked the completion of the most challenging part.
MSG Sphere’s Exterior Offers a Visual Feast with LED Lights
The exterior of the MSG Sphere is covered with millions of LED lights, which can change with the touch of a button. Especially during the 2026 World Cup, the structure will transform into a soccer ball, and into a giant orange pumpkin during Halloween, offering a visual feast.
The interior is covered with a 16K resolution, 15,000 square meter giant LED screen. This screen covers the curved walls and ceiling of the interior, providing a surreal experience to viewers. Wind, scent, and climate control 4D effects further enhance the viewing experience.
