The Name Gemini Comes from Mythology
The Google DeepMind team decided that this name was appropriate for artificial intelligence technologies because the twins’ dual personality and ability to evaluate events from different perspectives paralleled the functionality of artificial intelligence. Google also chose the name in reference to Project Gemini, which tested the technology between 1965 and 1968 ahead of the Apollo Moon Landing Mission.
